curt-52020-replacement-trailer-breakaway-switch-lanyard
Trailer Breakaway Switch Lanyard with 48-Inch Steel Cable and High-Temperature Nylon Pull – CURT 52020

A trailer breakaway switch lanyard links the tow vehicle to a compatible breakaway switch so the cable can pull the switch if the trailer separates. The CURT 52020 replacement uses a 48-inch steel cable and a high-temperature nylon pull designed for CURT switch 52010 and compatible electric-trailer-brake systems.

When correctly connected as part of a complete powered breakaway system, releasing the cable activates the trailer brakes. The selected listing option contains one lanyard, while a two-pack is also offered. A breakaway battery, switch and other system components are sold separately, so this replacement cable alone does not create a functional emergency-braking system.

Specifications

Brand: CURT

Model and part number: 52020

Product: Replacement trailer breakaway switch lanyard

Source-selected quantity: 1

Other listed quantity: 2-pack

Cable length: 48 in

Pull material: High-temperature nylon

Cable color stated: Silver

Switch compatibility: CURT 52010

Vehicle application: Trailers with compatible electric brakes

Function: Pulls breakaway switch during separation

System requirement: Complete powered breakaway system

Not included: Breakaway switch, battery and other system components

Specification stated: DOT

Included component: Breakaway lanyard

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this lanyard do?

The CURT 52020 pulls a compatible trailer breakaway switch if the trailer separates from the tow vehicle.

Is the full breakaway system included?

No. This listing supplies the replacement lanyard; the switch, battery and remaining system parts are separate.

How long is the cable?

The documented steel cable length is 48 inches.
