On a turn, choose from three basic actions: collect gem tokens, purchase a development card or reserve a card for later. Purchased developments provide permanent gem discounts that make increasingly valuable cards easier to acquire, while meeting visible requirements can attract noble patrons and add prestige. The changing race for cards and nobles rewards timing, resource management and adaptation without hidden player hands dominating the table. A typical session takes about 30 minutes.
